The
architect's challenge was to provide an attractive, functionally
efficient and cost-effective office building for a precast manufacturer.
The structure would serve the plant employees with much-needed
cafeteria and locker room facilities as well as providing additional
office space for current and future growth.
The office building was designed to showcase the manufacturer's architectural precast abilities and make use of the all precast building system. The structure now stands as a working model. The spandrels are characterized by a geometric pattern created through the use of a variety of colors, aggregates, and finishes. The exterior also makes use of bullnoses for a more dramatic look.
The
interior of the structure is almost entirely free of obstructions
through the use of 15' wide double tees.
In some spaces, the underside of the tees were merely painted
and allowed to remain visible, rather than being covered with a
drop-ceiling. The 15'-0" wide double tees also provide cost efficiency.
